Compared to the PSTN-modems which are used on analogue lines the ISDN are used on digital telephone lines (Integrated Services Digital Network). The big advantage with ISDN is that it can be used for very fast communication, 64 kbit/s on the line and a connect time of a few seconds. There are two ISDN standards the European DDS1 and the French VN4, Westermo ISDN-adapters meets both standards. The serial side can either be RS-232/V.24 or RS-485. The serial speed can be put up to 115.2 kbit/s and the modems can be configured local or remote. It is also possible to send SMS-messages via the adapter.
